Yeh i'm from good old aussie land. but on topic i'm half way through the second book of a series called "The Kushiel seires" by Jaqueline Carey. they're extremely good but only if you're into the specific topics its discusses etc. It's almost a dark fantasy i guess. my friend got me onto them and i like em enough.
Basically they follow the story of a courtesan spy named Phedre` and her unraveling secrets in the political structure of Terre D`Angelline peoples and the mystery surrounding a friend of hers whom you discover more of in the first book. She is one struck by whats known as "kushiels dart" (hence the title of the first novel) and is destined to find pleasure in pain. the only rule these people live by is "love as thou wilt" and courtesans are held in high regard. They're very interesting, though.
Kushiels Dart
Kushiels chosen
Kushiels Avatar
. . . . . and the next one comes out next yr.

Just finished Exile's Return by Raymond E. Fiest. I don't think it was good as the previous two books in the trilogy but it was an enjoyable read all the same

I've just finished this amazing book called the Dark Magician Trilogy. it was every good and it really was a 'page-turner.' it was so addicting and i had to find out what happened next that i read till midnight until i finished it (not joking) the author is australien (surprise, all the good authors seem to coem from there!) and she's brillllient at writing.
the first book is called The Magicens Guild and its about a slum girl who finds that she is a magican. she finds out in a great surcumstance (im not going to spoil the surprise). afraid that the Guild would kill her if they found out she is hid by the Theives and the advanture continues. it was a great read and i recomened it to anyone who likes books.

Hey Bridie, I've been around, my last post was 3 days ago! Just been a bit too busy to post anything relevant in the last 3 days
To keep this on topic, I will add, my next book on the 'To Read List' is A Feast For Crows by G.R.R. Martin.
