Oh, I thought of a fantasy series you might want to take a look at. It's the Wind on Fire series. They're not my absolute favourite series, but I did like how the side characters were well-developed and there was a fair share of humour in them as well. :)

sorry if these have already been mentioned, i couldn't be bothered to read all 31 pages of this thread.... has any one read the Stravaganza series by Mary Hoffmann?(Really good with the whole alternate world that is similar to ours but with a few signifigant changes.)
Yes, I own Stravaganza:A city of masks. It was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it too. I haven't read the second or third in the series though.

Ooh, I read Stravaganza!!!
the first is great, but the others were a total disapointment!!!
I felt so sad for the critically ill whatever-his-name-is in the first book, but I think the other books lacked the character and plot depth of the first.
Anyway, anyone read Lord Loss? Is it as good as the Darren Shan saga?
prefering vampires and demons over other dimensions at this very moment

yes, i have read Lord Loss, its really great. i have to say though, myself, as a vampire lover, didnt find it as good although that may be because i just loved the darren shan saga and so wanted the other books to be just as gothic and having vampires in as well. it was a great read though. and the new book, demon thief is just out in england and im gonna get it soon.
so over all, i would say that lord loss gets 8 out a 10, that score is made by me and me alone and i respect the wishes and views of other people who thought that the book in question should have deserved less or more marks.
