the standard of books these days jsut keep going down....
but there are still some good books out there, i just finished 'Hell's Horizon' by darren shan. (although for that book he uses the name D.B. Shan) , i wish it wasnt so coarse, but it was a very good book, second in 'The City' trilogy, long, good plot, action, (sex O_o) ect....
and why hasnt someone banned the word 'twilight' from this forum yet?

AYE!
im not a big fan of poetry tbh :)
but seriously, 'The City' trilogy is really good, darren shan is an amazing author
it starts with 'Proscession of the Dead', then 'Hells Horizon', next book is out next year.. some people might recognise the title 'Ayuamarca'. darren shan published it ages ago but it didnt sell very well, years later he redid it as 'Procession of the Dead'

What is Evermore???
its a fairly new book. its really good. here is hte synopsis from Amazon
Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste…
Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is. Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

Evermore sounds interesting lol, i might give it a try.
I do agree that the standard for YA fiction is going down the drain. for example the 'book that we cannot mention' was an average story with lots of escapism and attempted feel good moments but its just out of proportion now. i mean a movie serial? somebody needs a reality check please!
on the other hand there are a couple of books that i've read recently that have caught myy interest such as 'the house of night' series. although it does conform to 1) hot guy 2) school 3) lacking in original plot, it still has humour and a sense of real girl issues that i could relate to. I like that the main chara. zoey redbird is a strong heroine who can take care of herself too.
other than new books, i've recently been re-reading some of my old fave authors (other than alison of course) such as trudi canavan and even older, L. J. Smith. ive become so enamoured that ive bought them off amazon once again lol
