I spent a couple of days with Garth Nix once, doing readings and talks. Not only is he a good writer, he's a totally charming and funny human being. I especially like Sabriel.

It's been on in the US, I believe. I don't want to see it - they cast Ged as a white boy! Come on! Ursula le Guin had nothing to do with it herself, and was fairly dismissive. I guess she got the adaptation rights...

It did screen in Australia a few months ago on the Hallmark Channel on Austar. It was TERRIBLE, the acting, esp from the actors playing was Ged and Tenar, was laughable and completely unconvincing. Also from what i've heard the adaption's plot, bares only a passing resemblance to the books. If you never do see it, you're not missing anything, trust me :D.

What about Paul Collins? He is a good Aussie writer, 'Dragonlinks' was a good book, though I think he has written better.
"Obernewtyn" Ive been waiting for the next book for ages! I heard a rumour somewhere that the next book will be out in 2006 but I have no idea if its true....wait I just found something...Now apparently Isobelle Carmody went to this persons school and said that 'The Sending' should be out next year. YAY! :D :D :D

I've read Dragonlinks, have you read the second in the series, Dragonfang? I had no idea it existed until i saw it by chance in the school library, it's ok, from what i can remember Dragonlinks was slightly better.

I've read the Garth Nix's books they're all good, some books by Anne McCaffrey, oh I read this really witty book recently by David an Leigh Eddings, its called the redemption of althalus. I've only read two books by Isobelle Carmody farseekers and scatterlings, can't seem to find any others.
