Is there anyone who uses this discussion forum for chats and happens to be a famous author or even a potential author. I love the idea of chatting to legends such as Martin, Eddings, Brooks, Hobbs, Williams etc.....

FitzFlagg.....are you an author?

Nope, no really famous authors here.

But the spirit of Tolkien is haunting this board...

FitzFlagg,

I read somewhere earlier in the archives that you tend to spend most evenings in front of your PC writing stories. So I assumed you were an upcoming author.

If you do become famous and one of the greats, can I be your Number one fan? (Chuckle). I can be your agent.....for a small fee...say 5% of your royalties.....:-)

I write about 30 minutes a day, but none of what I am writing now will probably ever be published. It is mostly short stories that are for my eyes only.
On the other hand, I want to write in the future. I am a history major, and I think that I could write some of these text books much better than they have been written, and when I finally get my PhD, I think that I will attempt to write a history book, but I don't think that is something that will be read by millions of people, nor do I think that I will have any fans for it. In fact, I think I will have more enemies for writing a text book than I will make fans for it. I would like to write other books also, but I don't know, that is future. Right now I will stick to writing my essays for classes.

Aren't most avid readers also "aspiring" authors? I know I am!!! The greatest fantasy series ever on the face of the earth is at this moment lurking at the back of my subconcious...just waiting for the appropriate moment to burst forth onto the literary scene! of course its currently only about 30 pages of scribbles and chicken scratchings!
....
But the possibility that one of us is someone famous in our genre is very exciting! I once emailed Michelle Sagara West via her website and she replied with a very long letter. I almost dropped dead! So why couldnt George, or Terry, or Robin be out there lurking? Well probably not George.....If any of you ARE here? HI!!

Well, I may not be famous (yet http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif), but I have published the first book of my fantasy trilogy, The Erebus Equilibrium. There's a review, extract and synopsis of "Reflections" right here at SFFWorld!

Cheers,

Neil
