Back in the early 80s, I received a book from the SFBC and I'd like to track down a copy of it again. I thought the title was something like The Black Unicorn or the White Unicorn or The Black Swan or the White Swan or the Black Monster or the White Monster…because that was what a lot of the symbols of the book were about. I have searched all of those titles endlessly and none of the books with those titles are the right book! Soooo….the book was about two brothers who grew up with a tyrant of a father…he was a king of some kind, anyway, the older brother fell in love with a girl and the father had her killed which made the older son absolutely crazy and he fled the kingdom which made the younger son go looking for him. All the while…there was a black “monster” either a unicorn or a true monster kind of thing which plagued the older son while he was running away…the entire book switches back and forth between the brothers viewpoints. You saw the entire story unfold twice, once from each brother. One of the brother’s names was Dare I think and the other may have been something like Terrell or Ferrell or something like that. Each chapter started out with the name of the brother who we were following. The book was all about figuring out which path to take in life…the black or the white. Thanks for any help you can give.
