GRRM's Fevre Dream

I just wanted to say that I think GRRM's book titled "Fevre Dream" is exceptional. It is not a Fantasy book (well perhaps...dark Fantasy) but I just wanted to share my joy of reading that book with you guys. Go on....go and buy the book you will certainly enjoy it. It is about vampires and steamboats..that is all I am saying!!

Nicely written and very entertaining. Unputdownable.

GRRM Martin rules!! But he needs a few more books under his belt to surpass the legendary Eddings. But I can envisage this to happen!

Belgarion, your at it again with your Eddings propoganda!! Eddings needs a few more AWARDS (Hugo, World Fantasy and Nebula) before he can surprass GRRM http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif HA!

I have been searching in used bookstores here in the US for Fevre Dream since it has been out of print for a while. Rumor has it that it may be re-ssued in the near future (in US).

Hopefully Martin will win the nebula award for ASOS this year and add it to his TWO others to make a total of THREE.

Metosblat, is GRRM up for a nebula award? I know he is up for a Hugo award for "A Storm of Swords" later this year. Well deserved honors if you ask me. I've never read books like these before...

It was recently reprinted in the UK as part of the Millennium Fantasy Masterworks series, if you're still looking for a copy.

UK Amazon should have it. The full fantasy masterworks listing is pretty good. I've started to collect the titles slowly but surely myself. The full list is on my site in the fantasy category for anyone who wants to look. It seems like blatant advertising, but my list is the most comprehensive I've found anywhere, no kidding http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Martin has not got a Nebula Award. He has Hugo
and Locus Award. But it's not very good if you think that author with Award is better than author without Award. This is more stupid
even than bestseller list.If we watch the Awards Eddings is no rival to GRRM,but Martin is zero against Fritz Leiber, who has 6 Hugo Awards,4 Nebula Awards and the title"Grand Master of Fantasy".

Sorry for sounding ignorant...but who's Fritz Leiber?

Hemmingway won the nobel prize for literature. I've read two of his most respected books, "A farwell to arms" and "For whom the bell tolls" and I can't see why some people think he is good.
So awards maybe don't count for anything.
What does count is the amazing feeling of awe I felt Imediately after finishing A Game of Thrones. I got an even more intense feeling after reading A clash of Kings, then I sat in awe about 3 or 4 times during A storm of swords. These books have changed my perception of the Fantasy Genre.
