Has this ever happened to you?

Have you ever experienced a wierd fluke of reconstructive memory after you're done reading a fantasy novel, or trilogy or series of fantasy novels, when your subconscious mind all of the sudden puts something from another fantasy novel into the fantasy novel you just finished. I certainly have!! For example, once after I read the LOTR Trilogy and The Hobbit, I started thinking on the novels, and all of the sudden, I seemed to remember a scene in that books that didn't actually happen!! I saw this scene in my head which featured Frodo and Samwise in Mordor fighting the demon on the front of "The Demon Apostle" by R.A. Salvatore. I thought that scene actually happened for a fleeting second, and then I realized what I was thinking and realized it didn't happen. I also had another one recently when I saw in my head Frodo and Samwise battling Shelob alongside Hettar from the Belgariad. Though I don't know how I could have thought that because I hated the Belgariad! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Anyway, has anyone had this wierd experience
besides me, or am I just plain as crazy as Gollum? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am afraid you are nutty as a fruit cake my friend...

... so you should feel at home on the forum.

You don't have to be crazy, but it helps http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Happens sometimes to me but with movies not books.

Nah, you're not insane.

Just proving that fantasy that's derivative of Tolkien is all so homogenous that you can plug any book into the trilogy, and it'll work out.

Try reading some Moorcock. You'll feel better.

Neologik, hey that's a cool name by the way http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif, I don't really think that that much fantasy is derivative of Tolkien's works. Honestly, I think way too many people are too attached to Tolkien, and thus blow the whole thing out of proportion if they see a few influences of Tolkien in other fantasy books. I myself am a big Tolkien fan, and I actually like it when authors put in influences of Tolkien in their works.
By the way, I think the "Elric Saga" by Mr. Moorcock looks excellent! It is definitely on my "TO READ LIST" along with hordes of other fantasy novels! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
I've even heard that at some point in the Elric Saga it turns kind of "Indiana Jonesish" when some occult nazis are planning to capture the Black Sword.
Yeah, I can just imagine the insane nazi Aramac from "Raiders" questioning Elric.
"Oh y-yes Meester E-Elric! Vee h-have vays of making y-you tell us vhere the Black S-Sword is!!" http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

... and Elric replies "You want my Black Runeblade... good! MY runeblade wants you!!!"

Elric draws the blade from its scabbard, and the blade howls in ecstacy "FEED ME!!!!!"

Not yet FC, I went on a quest and got the other books I was missing up to the Elric book, I have just started The Dreaming City, I am enjoying every freekin' word of these books, even the Erkose(sp?) book The Eternal Champion was good, given that it was writen by a 12 year old.
