I'm just about to post a review of Revenge of the Elves. there are no spoilers in the review. Ok, Plot points, but no read spoilers.
i decree this thread to be spoiler ridden. if you haven't read the book, you were warned.
and Gary, if you're about to do what I think you're about to do. . . damn. more on this later.
who else is done with their ARC? am I the first person to post a review of this book on the interwebs?
ok. . . "just about to post a review" became "posted a review":

I'm working on a review for Strange Horizons. It's not officially accepted, as yet, but I think it will be taken. Probably will appear by end of September.

WOW. I received my copy from Amazon on Friday, 32 days after placing the order. A new record on delivery for them. Finished it yesterday. Gary may I say congratulations, it was your best by far.
I was struck by how many stories we are following at the same time. Thomas and his group, Dav and his group, and all the other groups. It must take quite a bit of concentration to keep them in sync. Secondly I did not expect the elves mentioned in the title were not to be from the 4 "tribes" of elves but from his Blackness himself, sneaky. The pace was very good, especially the hopping from one group to another, chapters not too long so one does not get too worried about what is going on in the other groups. Tamarra's journey kept me on end. Altogether I thoroughly enjoyed it. The result of the shards coming together was unexpected, and Caelton's reaction to it. Now all you've done is made me cross cos I'll have to wait so long for the next book.
I know you have another life besides being an Author, but I think you should put it on hold and get that damned book finished, what could be more important right now :D

Thanks, Zorobice! I'm very glad you liked it. I'm really proud of this one.
And I am working on the next book. I've written more than 400 pages already. It's not an easy series to finish, believe me.
I just wish now that I could get more people to read the damn books!! At this point I think I've proven that they're worth picking up. Yet not that many are rushing out to buy them. It makes it hard to keep going sometimes. Don't mean to complain. I'm grateful for all you who have remained steadfast. But it is hard sometimes to understand the phenomenon of book buying.

I'm reading. You son of an unmarried woman, you. And yes, I like Caroline better now.

I thought you would. She's fragile and she'd been sheltered. But that was necessary until recently. It's hard to be that sensitive. Also, her world had been so limited. She was and still isn't worldly in any way. She never will be despite how much she learns by virtue of her natural abilities.

My problems with Caroline weren't that she was naive or sheltered, but that she was idealized. She was, as people on the cover art thread like to say, a fantasy wet dream -- impossibly beautiful, impossibly bubbly and fluttery, and didn't show much other personality characteristics. Which was rather in contrast to your other female characters. She was your blank slate girl on a pedastal. Or Marilyn Monroe's persona as fantasy maiden. But now, she shows greater signs of intelligence and personality traits that are less suited to being satirized in Disney's Enchanted. I think once you got her into the action, you developed her better, and now in this book, she's more fully realized. She's the only character of yours I ever had a problem with, so I'm glad I'm liking the character better.
And the other ones are such fun. This may end up being my favorite of the series.

I understand fully. But remember what her life had been like up until now. She never saw people. She lived with her father and he kept her from everyone because he was afraid she would die if she came too near another person. She lived with animals and they were the only things she communicated with until Dalloway arrived. Under the circumstances, it would have been hard to be much different.
