Sth corresponding to Otherland...?

Ok, here's my problem: I am looking for a book similar to the Otherland series by Tad Williams. It should not be too new, because I want it as a present for my brother and he doesn't like reading English books too much, so it would be better if there's a German translation...
Any ideas?

I would suggest that you check out Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash".

By the way, I went on tadwilliams.com and was reading the synopsis and Tad's thoughts on his first book in the Otherland saga called "The City of Golden Shadow", and Tad said that one of the places he puts his characters in is the world's largest and most terrifying virtual nightclub. Now I can understand it being the world's largest, but why would it be terrifying? Could someone please answer this for me?

Pick it up Z-16, since you liked MS&T, you should like Otherland too. Tad CEMENTED himself as the best current SpecFic writer with Otherland.

Yeah, Snow Crash. Very funny stuff.

FF, you forgot to add the "in my opinion" there.

I guess i'll try Otherland after all the rave it gets here, but one of the books of MS&T is out of print... anyone has any idea if they plan to print it again?

FitzChivlary... that really surprises me, a book of MS&T out off print, it is still a seller, it may be a new cover design is due, and stock are getting low of the old one. I just had a thought... an omnibus edition would probably need a very strong lectern to support it http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Where are you getting your info from? All the books are avialable from amazon.co.uk, with a 24 hour dispatch. I appreciate this may be not very much use to you. Maybe they have not been a huge hit over there? However, if you have problems getting the book, email me and I will try to help.

Well, i buy my books on www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) or www.bn.com, (http://www.bn.com,) so that's where i check. www.amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk) has the same prices, but in pounds.... so i try to avoid ordering there, too expensive...
