Cover Art / The Covey Awards

The cover art for my novel, The Gender Divide, was entered by my publisher in a online cover art contest called The Covey Awards.

The last post from the site was early August and in late August the site appeared to be 404'd.

I've gone to blogger and re-registered the site to ask the following question:

Should we keep The Covey Awards alive?

I've also contacted the previous owner of the site for more info but I wanted to get your consideration on the following:

Are you, as readers, motivated by Cover Art when it comes to purchasing a book?

In addition to responses to the above I'd also appreciate it if you could take the time to let me know if we should keep The Covey Awards alive. Go to http://thecoveyawards.blogspot.com/ and vote there.

Thanks

David

BTW the final edits for The Gender Divide have been sent to the publisher so time is running out for your chance to win a Free Copy. For more info check out http://www.sffworld.com/news/399.html

Also this was previously posted under SF but I put it here too since I think this is a better place for it. I can't delete the post in SF otherwise I would. :(

Hey everyone

The poll is only open for two more days so if you haven't voted yet please do. I've been getting site traffic but few votes. The few votes received have all been 100% positive so odds are I'll probably keep The Covey Awards going but it would be nice to get a more significant response.

I have no problem running the site but I would like to solicit expert help regarding a logo and award image.

The previous logo / award image was an open book, kind of old fashioned looking. As I recall the award image (the image that the winners could display on their website) was basically a smaller version of the logo with the month and year written over top of it.

If you would like to help please contact me at david@davidboultbee.com.

Thanks

David

The Covey Awards are dead. Long live The NEW Covey Awards.

The response to the poll was hardly overwhelming in terms of #'s but it was 100% positive. Everyone who voted, voted to keep the awards alive.

I've launched a new site (primarily to get the matching email address :) ) at http://thenewcoveyawards.blogspot.com/

We already have our first entry for Sep so if you have a cover to submit, hurry to get your entries in.
