Hi all, I just started reading this book by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. On page 1 it starts with "The Canticle of the Dragon". Is this just a poem or is it an important part of the book? This part has been written in that screwed up fantasy language which i hate cause its hard to understand. Do I need to know this part?

Haven't read it in ages but if I remember right they used those parts to tell parts of the story that wasn't going to actually happen in the story. Kinda like a prologue.

What is told in the poem will be retold in the story too, you can skip it.

Ha, I actually liked Soulforge and Brothers in Arms most out of the DL series. But it can be enjoyable at times, well, it was ten years ago.

The Chronicles is the best DL series in my opinion.

Chronicles and Legends were both solid IMO and the Soulforge was excellent by any standard. I used to love the Legend of Huma but i haven't read it in a very long time.
