Okay, so we have recommendation threads for the best vampire novels, the best werewolf novels, the best zombie novels, so I thought I would start a thread for recommendation of another famous horror staple; the mummy. So what are some good horror novels involving mummies and dark egyptian occult stuff. The only ones I know of are The Jewel of the Seven Stars by Bram Stoker, Dead Souls by Michael Laimo, and The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers, but that is more fantasy.

I'm in the minority, but I really liked The Mummy by Anne Rice. It's a bit romancey, but it doesn't suffer from the rambling bloat that describes Rice's later novels and it had some nice chills.
I've been trying to think of the title/author of an older book that I read not too long ago. It starts with excavation of an Egyptian tomb (duh -- don't they all?) which releases a curse or a demon. One of the excavating team kills all the others. That's all I remember. I think it was set in the 1930's or 40's.
ETA: The book is Werewolves of London by Brian Stableford. I remember now. I didn't finish it because of all the repetition in the early chapters. Uber annoying.
But here's a link -- http://www.egyptomania.org/aef/EgyptSFF.html#Hist-F-Anc -- to hundreds of titles of novels and short stories that have a connection to Egypt and/or mummies.
