I thought I'll start a topic where you can ask questions, as you like.

Here's mine:
I'm planning on buying some more books after I've read the ones I currently got. I've got a list of series I want to read, but I have only set amount of money, and would like your advice on which series from below I shuold buy first.

The Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn
The Drenai Saga by David Gemmell
The Belgariad by David Eddings
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
The Riftwar Saga by Raymond E.Feist
Jewel Fire Trilogy by Freda Warrington
The Rai-Kirah by Carol Berg. I think that's what the series is called, its got 'Transformation', and comeing soon, 'Revelation'.
ASH by Mary Gentle
Wars of Light and Shadow by Janny Wurtz's
The Sun Sword by Michelle West
Recluse by L.E.Modesit Jnr
The Axe trilogy by Sara Douglas
The Last Rune by Mark Antony
The Darksword Trilogy by Margaret Weis
The Banned and the Banished by James Clemens
Dance With the Rings by Jane.s.Fancher
The Deverry Series by Katherine Kerr
The Dragon Crown War Cycle by Micheal A Stackpole
Vlad Taltos by Steven Brust
The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon
Ethshar Can't remember who its by.
Fortress by C.J.Cherryh
The Lon Tobyn Chronicle by David.B.Coe
The Gaurdian Cycle by Julian Gray

Pick about 3-4 series above. (Though some series are very large, I'll buy the first 3 in those series, and then later the rest, if I like them).
----------
Oh yeah, does anyone know when J V Jones A Fortress of Grey Ice is going to be release in UK. It was supposed to by August, but I think they pushed by the date quite a bit back.
----------
Another question, on the Amazon website, some books which are really Trade Paperback, are sometimes listed as Hardback. Do you know a good way of finding out if it is Hardback or Tradeback, apart from the price difference.
-----------
That's all for know. Thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend:
Ash http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif by Gentle. It was one of the best speculative fiction books I've read in the past year (Top 5)
Vlad Taltos http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gifby Brust. Great reading. I've read three in the series so far and will be getting the rest soon.
The Riftwar Saga http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gifby Feist (Magician, Silverthorn, & A Darkness at Sethanon)
Wheel of Time http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif 1/2 my guilty pleasure.

I think Ethshar is by Lawrence Watt-Evans.

I've considered picking up David B. Coe's series myself.

With JV Jones, I think her mom had an illness of some sort. Best wishes for her (also want to see the next book!!! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif)

If i were you i'd probaby get
The Drenai Saga, The Wheel of Time, The Riftwar Saga and The Deverry Series.

The best of those are The Wheel of Time and The Riftwar.

Btw, anyone read the Dance of the Rings series? any good?
Or Dark Glory War by Michael A. Stackpole?
I was wondering about those two series.

I'm rading David B. Coe's series right now, not far enough into it to tell if it's good or not though.

Here's my suggestions:
1. Wheel of Time - however, don't buy the first three books. Just get the first, Eye of the World, and see if you like it. If you don't like EotW, you probably won't like the rest of the series, and vice versa. At least that's the general consensus I've gotten from most people who have tried this series.
2.The Last Rune - I just finished book 2 of this series and can't wait for book 3. This is one of the best cross over fantasy series I've read. It kind of reminds me of GGK's style in The Fionavar Tapestry, only somewhat darker, IMO.
3.The Riftwar Saga - this one is also really good, and if you like it there are so many more books by Fiest that are set in this reality. You'll then have lots more material to enjoy. :-)
4. The Sun Sword - this is one of my personal favs. It has lots of the fantasy elements that I like: demons, exiled gods, mortal children of gods, hidden powers within a disenfranchised people. You get the picture. I recently read book 4 of this series and I think West has done a good job of keeping the material interesting and cohesive. One thing though, there is another series by this author, two books 1Hunter's Oath and 2Hunter's Death, that will eventually fit in with Sun Sword, or at least that's what I think from some of the allusions in this last book. You might want to read it before you read Sun Sword.

The Riftwar Saga
The Darksword Trilogy.

Though I haven't read it yet myself, out of your list I'd probably choose The Riftwar Saga by Feist. I've heard nothing but good things about it. At the bottom of my list is C.J. Cherryh - never have liked her.

By the way, I originally heard that George R.R. Martin was doing a six edition storyline for A Song of Ice and Fire. Is this still the case.

I third the option of the Riftwar saga by Feist (since you never listed GRR Martin I'll assume you left him off only because you've already read him!) http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

1. Riftwar, Feist
2. Drenai, Gemmel
3. The Deeds of 'Pax', Moon
4. Deverry, Kerr

Those are not really in any order of preference.

I have ordered paperback from Amazon, and recieved the hardback, but at paperback price http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif. It maybe Amazon cannot get the paperback edition, but will honour the order at the original price.... which is good of them.

1 "Riftwar saga"-Raymond E. Feist
The best fantasy I've ever read.
2 "Wheel of Time"-Robert Jordan
...but you won't miss nothing if you read only the first 3 books.
3 "Drenai Saga"-David Gemmel.
OK,I haven't read it,but I read "Stones of Power" and I know that he is great.
