Recently I've been hungering to play a tactical rpg (TRPG) and wondered if anyone on here knew of one, other than Tactics Arena Online. TAO is a great tactics game, but there's not enough of an RPG element in it for me.

Are you after a console or a PC title? Turn-based or realtime? Single payer or online? Give us some more info on what you're after and we can avoid suggesting titles that aren't what you're looking for.

Sorry, I didn't make that clear enough-- my bad. PC is what I'm looking for. As far as turn-based or real-time goes, I don't really care, the same with single player or online. They all have their advantages.

By tactical do you mean something like Civilization? Or maybe Eve Online?

Civ 3 is my husbands favorite game and he loves strategy games, turn based or otherwise. Eve Online is in the space genre kind of like a Homeworld type thing. I tried Eve but was completely inept in the 3d environment. They have a free trial you can download.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I tried the Civ series, although I liked Rise of Nations better. I've seen EVE, just haven't tried it. I found a game last night called "Call of the Warlords" but I can't figure out where to download it. Oh well.

oldschool in the best kind of way...it's quite demanding and a bit of a deviation from new age hack and slash rpg adventuring. give it a try,you just might get hooked,as i did. enjoy.

I would suggest getting a SNES emulator and hitting up Ogre Battle. Or Tactics Ogre. Or go PS1 and get Final Fantasy Tactics (fits the bill perfectly except that it wasn't on PC)

Dynasty tactics 2

Works well storyline is good and theres different endings depending on how you play the game and which routes you play.

Also hs good music.

probably cant get it for pc, but it is a very good game. grapics are good especially video graphics.

I would suggest getting the Fire Emblem series. I would start with the old GBA ones and work up to the new Wii one since the story's all interconnected. If not, I would at least get the Cube one before the Wii one. It's bloody hard but very realistic. It's now bumped Shining Force as my top RPG series.
