Summer is always a great time (but really, when isn't it) to kick back and get some reading done, whether on the beach, in your yard or on your porch with a nice cold beer.
[Homer Simpson Voice]mmmm....beeer...[/Homer Simpson Voice]
Anybody have any plans for specific books they will be reading these summer months?
Myself, I plan on re-reading Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams finally reading some China Mieville, and maybe reading through the entire run of Sandman by Neil Gaiman.
Well, how about the rest of you?

I'm reading The City of Golden Shadow by Willimas because you are always telling how good that serie is. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Then I plan to read Richard A. Knaak's The Legend of Huma. I have had it since last summer and still I haven't managed to read it...
After that I'll read Mercedes Lackey's The Heralds of Valdemar trilogy. And then I have two books by Pratchett and three books by Melanie Rawn and a couple of books whose name I have forgotten. I'm lucky if I can get all of those read in two months. I just have too much things to do. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

FitzFlagg, i think I'm the only here who hasn't read Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams. But I ordered the whole series today from Amazon.co.uk, so I'll be able to read it straight after my Exams.
Here's the Books that I've ordered today and will be reading July/August time:
1. Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams.
2. Cronicle's of Amber (the first 5)
3. The Sword, the Ring and the Challace series by Deborah Chester.
4. The Night Runner series by Lynn Flewelling.
5. Wizardborn by David Farland.
6. Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon.
7. Kinght's Dawn by Kim hunter.
Hopefully when it comes out
8. A Fortress of Grey Ice by J.V.Jones
I may start Robert Jordan's WOT series, as I haven't read any of his.
In September I hope to read:
1. Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson
2. Transformation and Revelation by Carol Berg
3. Sky of Swords by Dave Duncan
also in August or may later in the year if I have time i may start, 'The Riftwar saga' by Raymond E.Feist and 'The Belgariad' series by David Eddings.
Damn, its gonna cost me a fortune, just spent about £120 today.

As I see it, there are so many interesting books 'round that I won't be able to decide which to read first and then simply begin with what I find first in the bookstore...

I'm planning to finally get my hands on GRRM's ASoFaI. I as supposed to get it today via some relatives who'd gone to the states, but they couldn't find book 1 so I only got book 2.... major bummer, dude (said in best Bill & Ted voice). well, have to figure out some other way to get it then...

do NOT read book 2 first under ANY circumstances. Part of the thrill of ASoIaF is that you don't know what's going to happen next (unlike most fantasy, the good guys may NOT win...they may DIE...can't say more without spoiling)

I think this summer I'm going to re-read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant and the re-read the Dune series. Its been too long since I've read either of them.
Of course, I'll still be feverishly trying to work down my huge 'to read' pile as well.

Great question!
Absolute must-reads:
Ash by Mary Gentle and Seeker's Mask by P. C. Hodgell
Hanging out with old friends:
Lois McMaster Bujold, Jack Vance, Gene Wolfe
Getting to know new friends a little better:
Steve Aylett, Richard Calder, Angela Carter, Tanith Lee, Eric S. Nyland, Geoff Ryman, Michael Marshall Smith
Friends as yet unmet:
Kobo Abe, Eleanor Arnason, Neal Barrett, Jr., Octavia Butler, Raphael Carter, Stephen Dedman, Ellen Kushner, Jack McDevitt, Christopher Moore, Mary Doria Russell, John Shirley, James Stoddard
As is so often said - so many books, so little time.
FitzFlagg: Sandman is très excellent!! Definitely read the entire sequence so that you get the full story arc.
