My first SF book was recommended by my dad two years ago. I can't remember the title or author!
The premise was this: It was three parts and started more science fiction: with a scientist, a Jew, a magazine writier, all research different aspects of a secret that an old Rabbi (who was "killed" in the holocaust) knew..then by the end they've all gone into a sort of blackhole and they're on different rungs of Jacob's Ladder. The resolve is that earth is 50/50 good/bad but different rungs have different ratios.
The author was from Seattle and worked in the computer industry in Seattle (technical programmer type...maybe even wrote computer books). Anyone has an idea?
Thanks!
