I recently acquired a huge box filled with all sorts of paper back novels.
One of the novels in the box is The Tower of Fear by Glen Cook. I just finished the 8th book in the Drizzt series and want to take a break and read something else for a bit.
I was wondering if any have read this or any of Cooks books and can give me a little info on this book.. Is it worth the read? Is it part of a trilogy or a series I should start with another?

Glen Cook has his fair share of supporters here, though most discuss his Black Company, Dread Empire, or Garrett P.I. books.

I believe Tower of Fear is a standalone.

The Tower of Fear is an excellent novel and a good place to start with Glen Cook.

First of all it's a standalone story. No sequels or prequels have ever been written.

Secondly it's a really good story. It has an oriental setting. It's about an empire (based on Rome) that has just conquered an oriental city (kind of a mix of Jerusalem and Carthage). Lots of intrigue, betrayal etc..
If you like George Martin or Steven Erikson you'll probably like this novel.
