Inner Dialog

Maybe I'm a freak, but sometimes after I've been really into a book for a few hours I find myself "writing" my actions inside my head. For example, as I go to the kitchen to get a bowl of Crispix I can hear myself describing my actions. Does anyone else do this? The funnt part is that the inner "writing" dialog matches the style of whoever I was just reading. I used to speak like Jordan writes (imagine how annoying that was for people) and now I've noticed that my thoughts are almost GRRM in nature, as his was the last book I was really really into.

Anyway - I was just wondering if I'm some freakish monster that should be locked up. =)

Not at all, Boxing Griffin! I actually find myself doing this even if I haven't been reading anything. So.....if you're insane, so am I, and we both need to be locked up.

:p

Dennizm props his spectacles on the end of his nose and begins to type...

"I have never found myself doing this"

He then moves his mouse pointer over the 'Submit Reply' button and presses his left mouse button....

The person known as "Vroomfondel" reads through the posts on the SFF Forum. He smilies at the irony of dennizm's last post, and deceides to copy it. He begins to type.....

I'm glad this topic got posted.. I certainly wasn't going to bring it up! The thing that I find myself doing a lot is creating dialogue in my head. It's not related to what I'm doing or what I've been reading. Conversations just come, unbidden, into my brain. I don't write fiction well, but I love coming up with dialogue.

Hmm.. that sounds a lot like hearing voices, doesn't it?! Maybe I AM crazy!

I do this all the time and I also hold conversations in my head, replies and all. I also talk to the TV and shout at books.

Can I have my straitjacket now?

OK people.... (flipping open the DSM-IV criteria for Schizophrenia)

Have any of you been hearing 2 voices holding conversations about you?
Have any of you been hearing a running commentry about what you are doing.
Have any of you been hearing orders from others?

If so, please contact the nearest psychiatrist immediately,
Thanks,
Dr. Shehzad
