And the Hugo goes to...

Pages : [1] 2 3

Harry Potter 4

Storm of swords became second.

For all those who are interested, the Hugo is voted by the members of the Worldcon (in other words fans).

What is unusual this time, is that usually they favour SF over fantasy and single books over series.

I was VERY surprised considering a) it is a series book, b) it is fantasy and c) many perceive it as a "children's" book (myself NOT included).

I was hoping GRRM would win.

Dito FF,
though I don't jump on the Harry Potter - counterhype bandwagon, I thought SoS the more worthy entry.

Bah "Deadhouse Gates" should have won it!

Deadhouse Gates wasn't even a nominee.

Not saying its not a good book and all, it just wasn't nominated.

Who cares if it wasnt? It still should have won.

Don't care...GRRM won Locus-3 times only for ASOIF,nine times for his all career. However, the results are good for fantasy.

What a mistake....

I thought book 4 was the weakest Harry Potter entry of the series. Whether it is a kids book or not doesn't matter as much as the fact that it isn't a good book.

Perhaps it won because it was read by everyone voting, and how many people found a copy of Sky Road?

Nebulas are a popularity contest for authors, Hugos a popularity contest for publishers, and who represents the readers?

I think the Locus poll awards are the closest to representing the readers.

I can partly agree, sanclemente - but only where you say volume 4 was the weakest (Me? I think the 3rd was the best harry potter), nevertheless I enjoyed it and couldn't stop when once started...
Ähem - a somewhat strange question, maybe: I never have heard before of the Hugo - could somebody please tell me a bit more about it? Where could I find those things (so that, next time, I won't have to ask for everything...?)
thanks!
