I found that I LOVE her books so far. this board came up when I was looking for an order in which to read the books. I have read thru the Vampire Chronicles, on memnoch the devil right now. It is really good. I have read the Mayfair withces as well. I still need to read taltos but that is it. I am looking for other books that are similar to these books. other authors I might enjoy. Does anyone have any suggestions?

After Memnoch, you can read these:

Chronicles of the Vampires
Armand the Vampire

The New Tales of the Vampires
Pandora
Vittorio the Vampire

That's as far as I've read. But I believe that there are some later books that tie the Vampire series together with the Mayfair Witches series (which I've never read).

Well I finished Memnoch last night.. couldnt put it down. And then I just started Pandora today. Looks like just from reading the first couple chapters it is directly after memnoch.

I Love the Mayfair Witches. I have one more to read there. I am actually looking for more books along that line. I love the stuff about witches. I really do Love Lestat though.

I read a couple Steven King but have not figured out if it is me or not. Hearts in Atlantis I thought was good. I read he girl who love Tom???? I cant remember the name. The I read the first in the dark tower. just because I love the books that carry over, but it was difficult to get into. The Gunslinger. I may read more of that series.

I will probably fish out with the Anne Rice to have read thaem all. There has been one or 2 that were hard to get thru. But I did it...LOL

From what I remember, this is the order:

Interview with the Vampire
The Vampire Lestat
Queen of the Damned
Tale of the Body Thief
Memnoch the Devil

The Vampire Armand continues the story a little bit, but after that, I'm not sure. And Vittorio the Vampire is pretty much unrelated to the series, but still cool.

Outside of the Desperation and The Regulators set, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is my favorite Stephen King book. I absolutely love it.

After Memnoch the Devil, it’s;

The Vampire Armand,
Merrick,
Blood & Gold,
Blackwood Farm,
Blood Canticle

I’ve only read Interview, Lestat, Damned, Memnoch & Armand

Really enjoyed Interview and Armand, didn’t care much for Memnoch or Lestat and despised Damned.

Also, since seeing quotes like the below, I’ve lost all respect for Anne Rice;

I would never go back, (To writing vampire books) not even if they say, 'You will be financially ruined; you've got to write another vampire book.' I would say no. I have no choice. I would be a fool for all eternity to turn my back on God like that.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t begrudge her faith, but the comment seems a little stuffy. I’m not religious, but a good friend of mine is a born again Christian (by his claim, anyway), and he swears by the Vampire Chronicles. If he, as a Christian, doesn’t have a problem reading them, I don’t see a problem in her writing them. I don’t think devotion to a faith should automatically require you to shield yourself or others from fiction (emphasis on; FICTION) that slurs it. But anyway, that’s just my opinion and off topic.

As for Stephen King; I enjoyed those of his short stories I’ve read, and the few of his novels I’ve so far picked up. But, I don’t like his writing style (A.K.A. I like his ideas and development of them, but not his actual sentence structure etc.), and some of his material really struggles for an original or coherent storyline. I think he’s at his best when he wanders out of the horror genre. I thought Lunch (Lunchtime, maybe) at the Gotham Café, one of his short stories, was one of his more memorable moments.

i never really got into anne rices books although i do think queen of the damned was a good book the lestat one was a bit slow for me i must admit the only real reason i read queen of the damned is because i was hoping to see more of Gabrielle lestats mum becuase i find her interesting but sadly there wasnt. does any one no if there is a book about her?

To my knowledge there is no book about Gabrielle. To the OP, Merrick deals with the African American side of the Mayfair family. Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle introduce Lestat to Mona,Michael and Rowan. So if you want to read more about the Mayfairs, I'd recommend these. My favorite was Memnoch the Devil, but I did enjoy meeting the Mayfairs in her last two books. I also liked Blood Gold since Marius is my favorite vampire but that's neither here nor there.

Sorry can't recommend anything that is more like the Mayfair series because I haven't read it! But on the bright side you've got 3 books to go where you can still read about them:)
