Amazon's CreateSpace program?

I just became aware of this and it sounds interesting. The idea of POD being run from a seller site is pretty powerful.

Not to mention the idea that it publishes CD's, DVD's, etc. in addition to books.

Anybody know anything about this program? Used it? Is there any stigma or drawback to it?

If I read it correctly for each book printed there is a $3.15 fixed cost. All currency in this post is U.S. Say you want to print an average paperback so you get about 400 words per page. Your masterpiece is 120,000 words to run @250 pages. Calculate the $.02 per page cost and you get $5. So, current cost per copy is $8.15. Now if you want to post on their e-site the cost goes up 20% to $6. Add an Amazon post for another 30% and the cost is $7.80 copy. Add whatever fee you want to post.
I first ran the figures for a 180,000 word book and the cost ran to $11.70.

Looked at the sff products. 99 44/100% dvd blessedwith some truly awesome - or is that awful - titles.

You don't have to do the e-store AND amazon listing. (Guess which is more worthwhile)

I read the pricing, too. It works out okay. I make more on books I print myself...but this is like direct to store, no advance investment, ISBN included, etc.

I'm just wondering if anybody has worked with them. Or heard anything, or what have you.
