Didn't really like it... [Feist]

I've read Riftwar , first four books, and I didn't quite connected with it: I found it too shallow, characters weren't really developed...The plot overall seemed quite good, but my main problem was that it was just too fast-paced, especially in Magician where we had a glimpse of every character every two years or so...
On the other hand, my brother and sister loved it, and are naggin' me to read the series further, that it gets better.
So, what do you think?
P.S. I think that it's important to mention that I've read it right after I've finished first four Erikson's books.

I have every Feist book (except Faerie Tale) that is currently out and I have to say out of all of them the Riftwar - Magician, Silverthorn, Darkness at Sethanon - was by far his best work. If you didn't enjoy Magician then more likely then not you won't enjoy the Serpent War saga.

Thats not to say you shouldn't give the rest of his work a try - different people different taste.

I'd agree with Gear: The original Riftwar series is Feist's best work imo, and not by just a little bit. Some problems appear; some problems get bigger; I don't think I've ever enjoyed a Feist book as much as I loved these original tales. If you find these too shallow and fast paced, the story only becomes more so imo. Go ahead and give it another chance if you want, though; I'd hate to turn someone off the Riftwar story, which has brought me much joy in days passed.

hmmm i must say that I didn't like Murder in LaMut- it seemed too much like a detective novel in the end finding out who killed the baron and then throughout it there was just too much local politics which I didn't know enough of to understand...

but apart from that i have definitly enjoyed Feists other works (the ones ive read) I loved Magician and the next two, as well as the Prince of Blood and the Krondor trilogy (only thing that annoyed me was that i hadnt read the Serpentwar saga thus had a large gap in my knowledge of events), I didn't like the conclave of Shadows as much but i think that was probably more because I was slightly distraught when I realised that it was set hundreds of yrs after Magician and that id missed an awful lot that had happened to Midkemia (oh it annoyed me when they said somthing i had no idea about).

ps. big thanks to the people that have put together the chronological list of the books (which i read too late to prevent distraught crying when I found out Krondor had been all but destroyed somewhere between A Darkness at Sethanon and Krondor trilogy) but anyway I now have to go back to read the Empire trilogy and the Serpent War saga to fill in some sad gaps in my knowledge!!!

hmmm i think i went off topic of the thread but i really needed a rant about missing the chronology!!! :D

The Serpantwar is my favourite, though I have loved all of Feists books so far (that I've read).
