Who will you test your heroes against?
Six Villains I can think of:

1) Anomander Render (from Steven Erikson)
2) Kitiara (from the Dragonlance Chronicles)
3) Sauron
4) Artemis Entreti (from the Drizzt books)
5) Rimmer Dal (Heritage of Shannara)
6) Lord Tywin Lannister - for the military campaigns http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hmm..this is cooler:
1 Murmandamus
With his death, you accomplish your destruction.
2 Ba'alzamon
The best villain ever
3 Reaper
Quiet,deadly.
4 Gholam
Really nasty creature.
5 Takhisis
Unbeatable
6 Zandramas
Hmm...OK!

Bardos,
***** SPOILER - Gardens of the Moon *****
Anomander Rake isn't a villian, he's just a guy who's against the Empire and defends his people.
Spoiler for Deadhouse Gates if not read...
The only real bad guys that I've seen was in Deadhouse gates, the Commander of the uprising, Korbolo Dom.

************ END SPOILER ***************

Azaz> I, more or less, know, but I haven't finished the GotM, yet (about 100 pages to go). Indeed, he's not the destroy-them-all kind of villain, but I wouldn't call him one of the good guys... For that matter, I wouldn't call Lorn a good lass, also. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Btw, the book is fantastic!!

Would these villians need to work together?
I can't think of many that are Team Players

Thing is, how many villains can you think of that actually SURVIVED their conflict with the heroes? None of them are good enough man!
Ideally, in order to win, Pug etc would be evil!! Sam.

Randall Flagg... the Boss

Aaahh, poor monster, why was it writen for you to meet that hero?... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I really pitied one villain, and he was... aah... Annias, I think, was his name, from the Elenium. This guys was innocent! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I really do like villains to have two atridutes: 1) To be human, so you can understand them (i.e., no more Dark Ones) 2) To have enough power, to be feared and pose a threat.

I agree Bardos, for a villain to be really scarey, you have to understand what it is that drives them.
