For me,fantasy is a way to escape from our world,to see horses and dragons and swords anm sorcery...to feel the atmosphere of politic games and conflicts between Good and Evil...th meet powerful wizards and notable villains. You?

Alternate Ways of Thinking (AWoT)

For me, fantasy is not only magic, dragons, etc. Actually, I like original things most: an original "magic system" (whatever "magic" is in your fantasy world), original world, new, weird creatures.

Ahh... you don't see much of that, any more. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I like Fantasy because it is a get away from everyday life. For most characters, getting food and a roof is a daily challenge. It is for the most part much simpler, Good vs. Evil, clear drawn lines that everyone can see. Today’s world, everyone wants to be gray, no real commitments to either side.
I am an engineer so I am surrounded by Technology. Going back to that period is refreshing. Plus, I am a wizard of the modern age, I need to get some pointers from the old guys. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Uhm.... most of my friends call it escapism from reality, I guess.... (and they practice it as well, I´d like to add!)

I´m not sure whether I can find a better reason, but when I first opened and practically inhaled a Fantasy book at age 14, it felt just *right*, and it got better and better from that day on!

Because fantasy is the only genre I really enjoy reading. I love escaping reality, and enter worlds that doesn't exist.

Well, i get bored really fast, i find books from other genres be real boring, fantasy and sci fi go with the imagination all the way, so those genres manage to keep me interested.
Although i must say that after reading a lot of fantasy it gets harder to find books that i won't get bored with...

Oh, and the books have cool covers http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

I love reading fantasy. Probably because the characters in fantasy are brave and can overcome almost anything. When you read, you inevitably put yourself in the main character's place, so I guess that's the kind of person I'd like to be.

I like creativity, and fantasy being a genre based on things that don't exist, it's the perfect setting for creativity to flourish. Unfortunately, even in fantasy, there is a lot of "rehashing" old ideas, which makes the fantasy elements feel somewhat mundane. But with a little searching through the shelves, I can usually find the most creative and captivating stories hidden within this genre. So, I guess that's why I read a lot of fantasy(though it isn't the only genre I'm into.....)
