We, the staff of SFFworld, would like to know what you guys would think of having a forum dedicated to the above authors?

The forum we are aiming at would be a combination of alot of the bigger names in the Fantasy field.

As many of you know, questions in regards Martin, Jordan, Goodkind, Eddings, etc seem to flood the forum every month or so.

So, we thought of perhaps setting up a forum for just these authors.

How do you feel about it? Alright? Nah? Sure? Let us know..

A forum dedicated to "etc."? That would be novel. I read a lot of his stuff. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

I think it's fine the way it is now.

I think it is a good idea because the topic list will be a lot smaller if you make another forum.

It's a good idea in and of itself because these names attract a lot of attention and questions.

But it's not necessary here, I think. What you could also do, instead of creating an entirely new forum, is make a Jordan or Martin or Feist thread that continiously stays on top of the forum. I've seen this done on other boards as well. In this thread newcomers can ask all the questions they want. It would also save some of us (especially Lord Flagg http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif) the trouble of linking to ten other Martin or Jordan threads.

I realize this option is put forth because the regular and older members are fed up with all the eclectic threads about these authors, but I also think that this is a rather slow forum as it is, and if you take away threads on Martin, Feist and Jordan it gets even slower, and perhaps duller. There has to be a mix of everything.

So I would suggest fixing a thread for these three/four authors on top of this forum instead of making a whole new forum http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

If any threads should always be at the top of the forum it's the recommendations threads so we don't keep get 10 new topics everyday asking for recommendations.

What about a folder for each of those authors (within the larger "Fantasy" folder) where there could be multiple threads?

Although maybe that IS what you're proposing.
