So what unpublished work is everyone eagerly looking forward to? That book that you will call in sick, blow off classes and ignore that significant other for.

This question is a two-parter. The first is the book that actually has a title and/or a publication date (no matter how tenuous).

The second part is the book that you hope to see published even if the author has never indicated that such an event will occur.

Multiple answers will be accepted.

For the first part my list is rather long. I
eagerly await the next WoT, the second book of Pinto's The Chosen, Carey's Kushiel's Chosen, Hobb's fools' Errand, Cherryh's next Foreigner book, JV Jones Fortress, McKillip's Ombria in Shadow, Tarr's next Avaryan Rising novel, Peril's Gate by Wurts... well the list goes on. Just open Locus's last month's issue and check off about half in the forthcoming section.

The second part's answer would probably be
Donaldson's return to fantasy. Whether it is a Covenant series, a return to Mordant or an entirely new effort, I want it now!

I also look forward to Cherry Wilder's Hylor II series though no word yet on when it will be released.

I too eagerly await the next Wheel of Time book, and the next Song of Ice and Fire is tops on my list as well. In another couple of weeks one of my anticipated books will be available - Narcissus in Chains, the next Anita Blake book. YEAH!

As for long shots - I'd love to see another series set around the world of the Fionavar Tapestry. The idea of Donaldson writing more books about The Land is quite interesting as well.

The next Stephen King 'Dark Tower' book, I have just had a taster with 'Black House'.

I to, would like Donaldson to return to 'The Land', I would also like to see another 'Mordant's Need' novel.

Oh, and I must not forget 'Wraith Tide', by Neil C. Cladingboel, he will only shout at me otherwise. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I await nothing as eagerly as GRRM's Book 4, A FEAST FOR CROWS. Nothing else is even close on my list except maybe Mieville's next (called THE SCAR I think).
