"I'm looking for some books that I read years ago. I don't know what happened to my copies of the books but I cannot remember the author or the series title.
The first book talks about a boy born to a very popular professional football player and his wife. The wife thinks she's going crazy (and starts drinking heavily) because she'll lay the baby down in his crib and ten minutes later the baby is on the dresser(baby is moving himself). Then an old man "finds" the baby by tracking his sound(golden or silver bell) when he performs his telekinesis and takes him for training. I think all the names are Irish, not sure. Anyway the main character has to kill his trainer(the old man) before he's considered qualified. He then goes to work on different worlds. One is a water world where the fish are sentient and are basically computers. They also love to bet and insist on the humans' quarters being transparent so the fish can see them. The humans can also sell their dreams.
I had three of the books, don't know if there were more. The main character went to two other worlds to "work".
