Hi folks,

Has anybody herd of any good "oriental fantasy" I'm thinking medieval Japan or china would be rife with dragons and samurais. Thanks!

Well, I haven't read any Oriental/Asian fantasy yet, but I certainly plan to in the future.
Two Asian/Oriental fantasy series I've heard of that sound really good and have received really good reviews are "The Sun Sword Saga" by Michelle West and "The Legend of the Five Rings Saga", whose author's name I don't know ,but I do know it's published by Wizards of the Coast.

Hope this helps!! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Orty: this was recently discussed in decent detail here: martial arts anyone? (http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001540.html)

I would suggest trying Feist/Wurts' Empire Trilogy.

This isnt a book, but, CrossGen publishes a comic book called "The Path"..

Excellent Japanese fantasy.. While they dont use the names of Japan, etc, it is obviously based heavily on that culture. 2 issues are out so far, and it's great!

Legend of the Five Golden Rings is exactly what the doctor ordered for you.

Paladin by C.J. Cherryh has a distinctly Asian feel.

Actually, if you don't mind historical fantasy, James Clavell came out with some great fantasy in his main series. Shogun, Tai Pan, King Rat, Whirlwind and Gai-Jin, I believe. I've only read Shogun, but it was mind-blowing. Great read.

"The Initiate Brother" by Sean Russell(?), I think, not sure. But if u like the idea of a young monk who kicks ass with only his bare hands this is for you.
