I am very embaressed about that http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gifI don't remember who told me, but however http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif!
Because ya see I like the censorship, and when I've read Terry Goodkind, I was ready to take a pistol, go to USA, put the gun in the mouth of Terry and shoot!
I am 15 years old boy and that was awful!
So, our mightiest publishers called "Bard" told me that Martin is the best fantasy in the world even better than Jordan, Feist and Eddings! But the publisher don't like Goodkind beacuse there's tooo much sex and I think that too! In comparison with him I am a phlegm!
So is there REALLY much sex in the book?

In short: Yes!

But the more important question is: is there too much sex in the books?
And the answer to that is at least in my opinion: no.

For one thing, while other people (prudes http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif ) may argue the sex scenes in aSoIaF may be unnecessary, it was always my opinion, that none of them is there simply for effect, but that every one of them sheds some light on the characters involved or is integral part of their character development.

Let's face it, if we like it or not, sex is an important part of our lives, and what his fan's always liked about GRRM was a certain kind of realism. He doesn't spare us the more gruesome effects of violence why should he leave out sex.

Martin is my favorite author, hands down. One of the reasons that I like him is that he is writing for a "mature" audience. Yes, there is sex in his books, but far less than some people claim. As a twenty-something year old reader that I am, I am not bothered in the least by it - in fact I think it adds another dimension to the books. But if I were fifteen again I don't think I would enjoy Martin as much because of the mature themes. I tried reading Donaldson when I was around fifteen, and I just didn't get it.... Elan, if the description of sex bothers you, by all means, move onto more "conventional" fantasy.

But I am fan of Jordan and if someone tell me that in the book is tooo much sex, well...

But Terry Goodkind is like porn fantasy!
If you understand what do I mean. Because showing me a french kiss between Richard and Kallan, well...I dislike it!
I embaressed about one thing: Is there sex in George Martin as much as in Terry Goodkind?

French kissing, fantasy porn, SOT

are we reading and thinking the same?

If the SOT has to much Sex in it, than keep your hands of Martinīs books.

That would than be Hard Core Porn, going along with your articulation.

I just wonder what Tanith Lea than would be, cause as I seem to rember she did embarase me a few times. Stratus-sphere-Porn probably

I don't belive there's too musch sex in the books. I personally have no objection to graphic violence or sex in a book, as long as it's not gratuitous, and I don't believe Martin writes like that. As Barbarossa said above, all the sex scenes shed light on some aspect of the characters involved.

However, if I had a 15 year old son (and I have - well, a stepson) I wouldn't be too happy about him reading about prostitutes, incest etc. So possibly the books should carry some sort of warning? It's an idea anyway. Although then you may have the opposite problem of some people buying the books because of the warning!

So what do you do? I think forums like this are great for giving that kind of information. Read some posts on a particular book and then decide whether it will suit you. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hrm I can't even remember there being any sex. Must be the sooky writing ability of his cause I can remember there being some sex in SoT.

::wonders what elan thought of the implied sex carried over the bond from elayne to avi, min and bridgy::

I can't even remember there being any sex

In that case you probably don't remember all the great things about the book either http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

No offense, BUT: is this a case of sooky reading ability? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
