Wheel of Time...ooops!

I am looking to die-hard WoT fans for the confirmation on this one...

In the recently published RPG based on the WHEEL OF TIME series by Robert Jordan, one of the "weaves" a channeler can make it called "Fly". It is similar to the spell of the same name in Dungeons & Dragons, an old standard in the Magic-User repetorie. Now, if memory serves, many Aes Sedai (Morraine included) have stated that using the One Power to FLY is impossible. It is not a Lost Talent like Travelling, Dreamwalking, or Milking the Tears...it is described as impossible. A channeler can use threads of Air to lift other people/objects, but they cannot be used to lift yourself.

Does anyone else remember this explanation from the novels? I am curious because supposedly Jordan was closely involved in the making of the gaming system, and had approval on what would be allowed in the game...so why would a weave, which has been described not as Lost but impossible, be included in the game version?

Thank you! Does anyone out there know which of the books it was in...I'll look it up and find the page numbers, but which book was it?

I could be wrong, but I was thinking that suian says something about it while she is teaching Egwene and Nyneve on the boat on the way to Tar Valon, which was book 2. I could be wrong though I seem to remember Moraine saying something about it at one point to. It has been a year since I read the earlier books. I think that is interesting about the game. I'll look when I get home and see if I can find anything.

It looks like Flying is a lost talent. The Amyrlin tells Egwene and Nynaeve that Aes Sedai could fly, but they don't know how since it doesn't say in the records, and you can't lift yourself using air no matter how hard you try. So we were right about not being able to lift yourself, but it is alright that they have fly in the game.
THis conversation is on page 232 of the hard back version of The Great Hunt.

Of course they also said that there was no cure for being stilled . . .

Just because they believe it to be impossible does not make it impossible.

I just got the impression from the new RPG that flying was not a Lost Talent...I'll need to go back and read that portion of the Great Hunt...thanks!

Didnt Rand Fly when he was fighting one of the forsaken (one of the first forsaken - the one that was defeated with the Horn, etc)? I think I remember he doing it

if something is impossible that just means it is yet to be done--my english teacher

Correct me if i'm wrong, but when Rand was fighting Ishma'el, wasn't it just their images that were projected into the sky somehow? I don't think that they were actually flying.
