Does anybody know if the fantasy serie "The Dark Tower" from Stephen King is finished or continued???? The last release is pretty long ago and I get the feeling that I maybe missed a book. So far, I know
'The Gunslinger'(I), 'The Drawing of the three'(II),'The Waste Land'(III) & 'Wizard amd Glass'(IV)
The last book is from 1997. Are there more that I don't know about?????

Can anyone tell me what these books are about? I read the gunslinger but i was so lost, i had no idea what it was trying to say. I'm willing to give this series another chance but i think i need some help first...

It's very difficult to describe what the story of the dark tower is. You are right, in the beginning it all is weird and complicated. but if you can keep up long enough than you will find yourself in a really big and fascinating world. It's not the usual fight between good an bad like all the other great fantasy worlds. I tried to explain the story to a friend of mine some time ago, but I failed. It's too entraped an many-sided that you don't know how to start -I sorry. But I'm shure that if you get the story a second chance than you will be rewarded!!!! It's one of the best stories I ever read. (Unfortunately it's unfinished)

I believe his new collection, EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL, contains a prequel.

The series is currently four books and is unfinished. The prologue and info for book five is on Kings website.
The first book is the worst and if you ask me should be rewritten. The others read more like normal books and are very good.

I think there's a short story in "Legends" which takes place in the "Dark Tower" world.

Any one wishing to read this series had better be patient. The first book Dark Tower was published in 1982 and the next three every five years which takes us up to 1997.
Perhaps another one this year?....
Personally I gave up on it years ago

Ok, the story that appears in Everything's Eventual and Legends is the same story: The Little Sisters of Eluria
The Dark Tower Saga is about a world, like our own, that has moved on. The World is dying and and crumbling away. One man, Roland of Gilead/The Gunslinger, who thinks he can save it or make sense of it quests towards the Dark Tower, the central point of all reality.
He recently completed the fifth book, The Wolves of Calla and it is being copyedited, I believe. He plans on finishing up the series in two more books, which he plans to finish now, as in those are the books he is currently working on.
At one point, this series was not connected to his other fiction, but King is bringing alot of his other work into the fold (The Talisman, The Eyes of the Dragon, The Stand, Black House, Insomnia).
I personally think the series is great and really enjoyed the first book.

I've been considering reading it but then i talked to my sister and apparently she chucked gunslinger out the window (well, not literally)and just read the third one instead. i don't lke doing that sort of thing and some people above mentioned that gunslinger wasn't to good, but what i'm trying to say, is it worth reading just to get to the rest of the series?
There, i got there in the end.
