I was wondering what military fantasy authors you guys like. I absolutley love "The Song of Fire and Ice" series and want to try to find something similar. I purchased John Marco's "The Jackel of Nar" but am having a hard time getting through it. Im not sure what your defenition of Military Fantasy would be. I consider it leaning more towards medieval type combat and less towards magic. Thanks guys!

Try "Black Company" by Glen Cook and "Gardens of the Moon" by Steven Erikson

Try the World at War series by Harry Turtledove. The books are basically WWII set in a different world, with fantasy creatures (laviethans, unicorns, huge artillery and AAA beasts and dragons), sticks (have a certain name, but I forgot, "blazers" maybe) that shoot what I guess would be magic, wizards (some represent the physicists creating the atom bomb, others charge the sticks, kill lots of infantry by opening up the ground).
Its very, very interesting if you know a good deal about WWII because you find yourself seeing which nation represents the Soviets or the Nazis, and what a wizard would represent (i.e. physicists).
Of course thats only if you want to read that kind of book and if you know a good bit about WWII.
Hope I helped.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Gardens of the Moon seems right up my alley, ill have go find it. I looked on Amazon.com and it appears that its onlu available in the UK, is that correct?
Also, i have looked at Turtledoves books and loved his US Civil War series of books, maybe i should try the WWII ones, WWII and aliens just seemed odd, but i guess Elves and Dwarves are too eh?
Any other military fantasy books out there guys? Come on, lay it on me!

K J Parker's Fencer trilogy.
Chris Bunch's King Trilogy.
Kate Elliot's Crown of Stars series.
Oh and if you try Gardens of the Moon you might find the first 200 pages hard but once you get into it you should love it. The second book Deadhouse Gates is about 3 times better.

Ash - A secret History by Mary Gentle. Definitely a military fantasy but also one heck of a read!

Arith, its actually cheaper to order 'Gardens of the Moon' from the amazon.co.uk site, and it should arrive within a week and a half. Best to order the second one in the series as well, 'Deadhouse Gates', I'm sure you'll love this series, if you liked ASoIaF.

WWII and aliens just seemed odd
There are no aliens in this series, just plain humans. You're referring to another of his books, I think its standalone, that has no relation to the World at War series.

The alien invaders arriving in WWII series written by Turtledove is the four volume 'World War' series. Not to be confused with any of his other series such as 'World at War' or anything. A fun series, a bit clunky at times, but enjoyable.
As for military fantasy, some of David Gemmell's books perhaps, such Legend or The Lion of Macedon, among others, were pretty decent in that regard.

Pretty decent?
Gemmell IS the king of Heroic fantasy and his military fantasy oriented books, like Legend and Parmeinion-duology as well as Morningstar and all the Drenai-books are among the very best.
Glen Cook is excellent.
