Anybody read the dedication in his new book? The people of the U.S intelligence community?
I never really considered him even a decent author, but I read his books anyway. His last two books have tried to incorporate pathetic political themes though, and he's getting very annoying.
Is he braindead?

He is not brain-dead, he has finished many published novels...not an easy task. But his novels have proven to be somewhat less than appealing, highly unoriginal, and sometimes downright boring. So it begs the question, are his PUBLISHERS brain-dead. Methinks, yes.

Matthewajg, beg to differ, the only interest of a publisher is to make money, the books sell, so it must be the readers who are braindead.

ummm, I'm with Barbarossa so far as the logic runs, but not with the sentiment. I read Goodkind!

To make this clear, I didn't want to imply that readers of Goodkind were braindead, as Sam put it it was a question of logic. I read only SoT myself, and didn't find it as horrible, as some people here seem to think, nor did I like it enough to read the next book.

On the back of the american edition of THe Warfarer's redemption, one of the reviewers says "Douglass is at least as good as early GOodkind"
I couldn't help but laughing. They insult him so casually. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was disappointed with this book :/
Sword of Truth series has always seemed like a diet version of Wheel of Time to me, and it seems to be going the same direction...Wheel of Time is progressively getting worse (I skip whole pages at a time, why do I need 4 paragraphs to tell me Ninaeve is wearing X-colored clothing?) and it seems Goodkind is following.
Faith of the Fallen was probably one of his better WRITTEN books, but the plot is hard to swallow...suspension of disbelief can only be taken so far. Pillars of Creation
is the same way. Character's movements defy all common sense, things deemed "important" are unexplained, it just IS that way...(WHY did they need to go to the spot of the final battle? What was it's importance? Never explained, everyone just happens to head that way?)
Anyway, I read Goodkind for a day or 2 of light reading, a book I don't have to think to read. He's kinda like a bad sit-com on TV.
