G'Day everyone.
Quick question here, and hopefully someone will be able to easily answer it. It does contain a minor spoiler though, so be warned

I am currently rereading the series, and I am about 80 pages into book 2.
Now onto my query:
While Robert is alive, he talks to Ned about his plans to foster Robert Aryn with the Lannisters.
Pretty much everyone that Ned and Catelyn talk to after that go "Lannisters? No, he was going to be fostered with Stannis."

What I can't remember is that if over the the next book and a half, this discrepancy is explained. Can anyone tell me if this is explained?

And if not, does anyone have any theories as to why Robert told Ned he was going to foster Jon Aryns son with the Lannisters when everyone else was under the impression he was going to be fostered with Stannis?

I'd just forgotten whether it came up again, or whether it was something that got explained.

Thanks Shehzad - that's all I needed to know...

One more thing--after you're through with all 3 books read the topic on ASOIAF theories....but NOT before!

I've read them before, but this one point slipped my mind, and has been grating ever since - hence the post.

And for those interested, the topic Shehzad was talking about is here:

Aaahh IIRC Robert initially wanted to foster Robert Aryn with Stannis but he later changed his mind due to political reasons--perhaps to placate the Lannisters.

OK,

I am posting this here because I felt the "I started GRRM" thread was too bloated and a bit innapropriate for this.

In Cannon Fodders last post on that topic, it was pointed out that Catelyn didn't die.

I really want to discuss this, as I think something really funny is going on here.

I was pretty convinced she was dead. Not many people get back up and walk around after having their throat slit and being dumped in a river.
I can't recall exactly, and don't have the book on hand, but I am pretty sure that Nymeria thought Catelyn was dead as well.

So if, as all evidence would suggest, Catelyn died, why is she still up and about at the end of the book?
Also, she didn't seem much like the Catelyn we go to know previously - she was never much of a murderer.

So is Catelyn alive? Or a zombie-Catelyn? Or will GRRM write it off as a dream sequence?

Well she is with people of the brotherhood at the end, so I think it's a safe assumption she was revived by Thoros the priest in a similar way to Dondarrion, that would make her a kind of zompie I guess.

I think she just seemed dead (necrophania, I think is called), but she really wasn't; just her vocal chords were severed. Thought being revived by Thoros could also be tru. But can he do it so easily with all people??...
