Ian Irvine...again

Alright, i started this thread a little while ago:

Yay! Click Me! (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19023&highlight=Irvine)

Since then I bought his newest book 'Torments of the Traitor', which is a continuation of the previous series (The Well of Echoes). I've read about half of the book

Problem is that it blows chunks. He is emphasizing the bad aspects of his writings (Nish being a whinging bitch and the plot being driven by good guys being constantly manipulated/forced into bad things) and losing the good stuff.

My question is:

Has anyone read this book and if so, does it get better?

I have a lot of books to read and , even though I loved The Well of Echoes, I need to decide whether to push through.

Now, which one is that, because, I think it has a different name in the UK?

I hope it is good though, as I have yet to read it, but I loved the View from the Mirror and The Well of Echoes. I have bought the first two books from the latest series - The Song of the Tears - and I'm looking forward to reading them, but I'm waiting for the last one to be published. In all honestly though, I only really bought them to find out who the Numinator was! I wasn't happy when I realised we wouldn't find out in the Well of Echoes!

The book I'm refering to is known as the The Fate of the Fallen in the Uk I think.

Ah yes, I've got it, but haven't read it yet. But I think I read in a few places that it does get better, but not quite at the same level as the other books! It's on my to read list!

First of all, don't you even care to find out who the Numinator is? Or what became of all the party guests and the close of Chimaera? Or Flydd's predicament? He also introduces a lot of major arc developments in the last quarter of the novel.

If you decide to finish it you'll never look at the three series separately again. I can guarantee that much. Incidentally you'll also realise his incredible skill for large-scale organisation.

I found out who the Numinator was, I flicked ahead, as I always do (and funnily enough this doesn't actually ruin the book for me, I prefer to know in case I get hit by a bus or something!) and it's not in this book, it's the 2nd one of the series! And I had guessed who it was anyway! I was just glad I proved myself right! Don't get me wrong, I am going to read the books, I'm just waiting until I get the last one in the series, when it's released in December.

I am looking forward to finding out what happens to the others, but I think it's a while before they even come back into it.

ok, OK! You've managed to guilt me into reading the rest.

I do care...unfortunately my favorite character was Irisis, though I did love Scrutator Flydd.

I will read on, but I'm peeved about having to force myself in the first place.
