Has anyone else read her books? I recieved the very misguided impression from another online forum that her books were very well known and popular and well written. This is one of the very very few series I haven't finished. I've never picked up a book and not finished it but I very much wanted too w/ hers. I actually stuck through it through the 2nd book because I read very fast and wasn't wasting much time. But I really could not have been less impressed. Anyone else have an opinion?

I loved Kate Elliott's Crown of Stars fantasy series - I thought it was exceptionally well written and a great story. Is it the Jaran series you're talking about? It's scifi rather than fantasy. I'm not a big sf fan, so I've never read it.

Well I only read book one so far, but ordered all the other while still reading it, so I can say it impressed me.

I read the first book in the series and loved it. I can't wait to be able to read the others.

Read all 4 books that are out so far, and enjoyed them greatly.

Same here - Crown of Stars is a good fantasy series, IMO. I'm eagerly awaiting the concluding book. I also liked her scifi Jaran series as well.

Hmm. Not sure why I didn't like her books really. I seem to be the minority obviously. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif I actually didn't know anything about her Jaran series. Thanx for mentioning it. I'll try to get a hold of the first one though and try it too. One thing I won't do is say I don't like a book or series w/out reading it first.

I read the 2nd book, found it good, read the 1st book, got bored to tears such that I forced myself to read the 2nd book again just to rescusitate my interest in it. So I guess the jury's still out for me on this series but I'm keeping an open mind...
