Hrm I was curious to see what Martin fanatics think of Jordan so I visited his forum::shudder::. It would seem that 99% of Martin fanatics really hate Jordan http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Here's a interesting thread: http://pub26.ezboard.com/fasoiaffrm5.showMessage?topicID=3108.topic

Geez and Raegar had the cheek to say he was surprised at the amount of "hate" he saw towards Martin at the wheeloftime.com forum. For the record only one person said they hated Martin, the rest just said he didnt deserve all the praise he got.

The thing that gets me is these Martin fans just arnt happy enough to say his writing sucks, they also feel the need to slander Jordans name with the money accusation.

Martin fans = big meanies http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

EDIT: Link repaired

The link in my post works.

I post regularly at this forum myself. Most people are incredibly disappointed by Rob Jordan, that's why they are so anti-Jordan. They discourage others from reading him because they feel that what he's done with the Wheel of Time is terrible.

Don't forget that the majority of these folks were Jordan fans at first, who loved what he did initially but felt cheated. They were relieved when Martin came along.

Mithfanion, just curious, how far along are you with Dragon Lance and Eye of the World? BTW you've read Riftwar already right?

Personaly, I don't think anyone HATES an author. They just dislike their stories.

Yes, even me, Caldazar! I don't hate people like Jordan; I pity them, for I think they suck. ;-P

Bond,

Dragonlance= on the to read pile
Eye of the World= started it, but saw Hobb's first Liveships book in stores and read that instead. I'll definitly get to it soon. I hadn't read far enough for the story to pull me in.

Riftwar: Magician, yes.

Is it really that rare for people to like both? They're both big names in the genre, but that doesn't mean you have to choose sides.

"I hadn't read far enough for the story to pull me in."

Really, the Eye of the World, Imo, was terrible. The pacing was awful (slow with a rushed ending) and all the events (read: inns) became repetitive. But stick with it. It gets much better during the second book and continues to do with each novel. Unfortunately, the series peaks with book 4, and starts going downhill dome from there (Just my opinion, of course), but it's definitely worth reading. Some really good stuff.

Caldazar started a topic on this a while ago. And not it is not rare that people like both, myself included.

I like both. There are really rewarding parts in both stories which I can't find in the other.
