I just noticed, only this month, that OSC has a new Ender book out in November. Sad, considering I once looked forward to these releases and knew long in advance.
How many of you are still following this series? I've thought everything since Ender's Shadow has been bad, yet I still buy all of them, the day they come out, in hardcover.
I'm happy that he'll focus on Ender in this one. Is there hope?

I'm still following it, and I'll be getting this one, although maybe not until after the holidays. I've read the four original Ender books and the four Shadow Books. As I understand it, ENDER IN EXILE will be a direct sequel to ENDER'S GAME, and will deal almost entirely with his transit to the planet Lusitania.

I've got it and will likely review it for SFFWorld.

I've been following the series...but I'm finding it increasingly hard to justify to myself buying Card's books given his recently reiterate opinions about gay people. I'm just not sure I want to give such a hateful person any more of my money.

I'm about half way through it and so far I can't recommend it. It's not just the storyline... it's his writing. I have no idea how he could have written Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide and then put out such a poor product in his later books.
He's just not very good. I'm reading Abercrombie right now and he's far superior and far greener than Card. I just don't don't get it.

After finishing Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide, I tried Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon, and it killed it for me. I've read Ender's Game like 3 times now, and remains one of my favorite books of all time, but I can't say I'm particularly excited for this book.

I've decided I'm only going to buy it second hand...that way Card won't be getting any of my money! It's an unsatisfactory compromise though. Basically, I've come to despise the man but I'm curious about the book.

Well if you really think about it... Card's going to get paid what he gets paid regardless... I think I'll buy it just because I've always loved Card's writing style... but I have to admit he lost me by stringing out the Ender series far to long, and the books that are centered on other characters like Peter made me furious to say the least.
I must say, Ender is one of the most dynamic characters I've ever read... if it weren't for him, I would never have really gotten into any of these books.
(and just because whenever I think of Ender, I think of the scene in Ender's Game when he has the kids shoot their own legs to freeze them and use them as sheilds in the zero gravity. Absolutely brilliant!)

I had no idea Card had such (in my opinion) insane beliefs. I did a little internet research, and was pretty sad at what I saw. I've pretty much lost all respect for Card now, myself, and have changed my mind about buying one of his books about writing. I can't support anyone with those beliefs, end of story.

The book isn't very good anyway. So... don't worry about it.
Card's words at the end of the book are quite funny. I think he actually believes he's a better writer now then when he wrote Ender's Game, Xenocide and Speaker for the Dead. I also got a good laugh at rereading his opinion that he doesn't have the time to go back and read HIS earlier books to solidify HIS time line and plot details.
How the hell did this guy win Hugo awards? =)
