wld love to find a sci fi story i read 20 odd yrs ago.the title was something like "the zarn-the military form".the first part of the titles probably wrong.
basically a salvage ships crew find an ancient warrior race shrunk and entombed in suspended animation in a rock floating in space.after taking it aboard the "military "part of this race uses its last strength to take over a few crew members.the rest of the crew escape to a nearby planet and end up battling to defeat the ressurected ancient race as they land and begin to slaughter the planets population using the bodies converted into hideous mutated fighting machines.wld appreciate if anyone can remember the author and correct title,it was a great little horror/sci fi story.

Damn close, it's "The Vang - The Military Form" Good book, I re-read it earlier this year. Would make a brilliant movie.

On Amazon here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vang-Military-Form-Christopher-Rowley/dp/0345331761/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226351828&sr=8-1)
