A fan of Sarah Monette's Doctrine of Labyrinths (spoilers).

I'm a fan of the "Doctrine of Labyrinths" looking for other fans to talk about this series with.

(((SPOILERS)))

I'm half way through "The Mirador" and wish to strangle Mehitabel to death so she doesn't waist any more of my reading time! Anyone with me on that?

No. I thought she added a nice balance between the Felix and Mildmay.

Jemcrystal -- I removed your links because they aren't allowed, and are also not a great idea for your own safety.

I read the first novel in the series, Melusine, and thought it was terrific. It did start to meander a bit toward the end, and the main villain I think she sometimes went overboard with, but Felix and Mildmay are really wonderfully written characters with distinctive voices. I thought she did an exploration of madness with magic better than I've ever seen before with Felix. And the relationship he has with Mildmay -- the baggage both carry -- just had so many emotional layers, it was fascinating. She's someone who I think appeals to fans of New Weird steampunk and secondary world epics -- she does the cityscape stuff very well.

So I was impressed and will probably be reading more of hers, including the novel she did with Elizabeth Bear.

I finished "The Mirador" and I see Mehitabel's purpose. I still think there could have been more sci-fi excitement between the dull politics.

I can't figure out what to read now. I pick novels based on the good-looking main male character. If he's gay, it's all the plus, but not necessary. Felix was hot! :D

Before Felix Harrowgate I read about Dag Redwing Hickory the sorcerer from The Sharing Knife series and Jean Claude the vampire from Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and Acheron the diety from the Dark-Hunter series and Harry Dresden the wizard from The Dresden Files, etc. I love these good looking, witty, protagonist males! ;)

Know any good books with sexy male leads? Or gay guys. And yeah, I read "A Companion to Wolves" (lone book) by Sarah Monette & Elizabeth Bear. :p

I have the same thought for Felix Harrowgate as I have for Harry Dresden - wizards need a dragon; not no little wyvern, but a big, fire breathing possesive mother of a dragon!

Again, no My Space links. Also had to change a word in your post there. Sorry, but it's not allowed.

Try Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint, The Privilege of the Sword and related titles for the gay-related material, and in SF, you could try China Mountain Zhang by Maureen McHugh. Laurell K. Hamilton's other series, the Meredith Gentry one, probably has some material similar to the Anita Blake one.

You might want to try Charlie Houston's contemporary fantasy series if you liked Jim Butcher's series (I think it has more snarky humor,) Glen Cook's Tyranny of the Night for some gladiator-like stuff, and umm, hot guys...help me out here, people.

There is a definite body of gay SFF romance, but I'm not familiar with it. Amazon may have some lists.

KK about the myspace. Idk what you changed besides the myspace link, my post looks the same to me. Thanks for the suggestions. :) I found some gay novels in amazon's listamania (http://www.amazon.com/Great-Books-That-Happen-Slash/lm/RB7K8VTWCLBVO/ref=cm_lmt_fvlm_f_1_rlrsrs0). My library owns none. I'm pinching pennies before the Christmas season so I have to read what my library has.

Felix fans just Google search Jemfaycrystal to find me; we must unite!

Reading LKH is like breathing air, it just seems to happen to all of us at some point, lol! :p But I am very mad about what happened to Frost so no matter how much I care about Doyle I will not return to the Merideth Gentry series. :(

There is also Ricardo Pinto's books, in which the main character is gay. The first novel is lush, or some would say, over-written.

I always liked the Last Herald Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey; I think it'd be right up your alley, Jemcrystal.

Awesome leads. Thanks guys. I used to use Amazon.com to decern book series order but I found Fantastic Fiction (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/) which is so orderly. Love it.

"Wicked Gentlemen" by Ginn Hale keeps coming up in my cross searches. I'm very curious about it. Anyone read it?

I live in a college city of tri-towns that grew together, and the library system is good. They are very eager to please so I think they are going to add a few books I like to their collections for me. They are terrible about selling donated books, though. I could never figure that out.

Even though these pics were taken on a bright and sunny day this library and it's town are always comfortably dark. The hotel (http://flickr.com/photos/goligorsky/2221602985) across from it is ancient and full of giant taxidermed cervines and medieval armor.
