Question about Modesitt's Recluse series

Pages : [1] 2

Once I complete reading the first book in the series, The Magic of Recluse is it necessary to read the remainder of the novels in order or can I jump around? I would be interested in reading the novels about Lerris first then the other main characters next.

JBC... at the end of the day, you read them how you want to read them. However, if you jump to the next book with Lerris, you will come across mention of things you will have no understanding off. You need to understand his father's and uncle's past IMHO.

Modesitte does jump around with his timelines, one of the later books 'A Fall Of Angels' actually could be the first book you read... b/c it tells of the origin of the Black and White orders.

But as I say, you read them however you wish... there is a damn fine story there, in spite of the annoying SoundFX http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Since Modesitt seems to jump around in his timeline I was thinking of reading the books in chronological order. If I do this will I be missing something?

Nope..., in fact it is a good idea.

I'd suggest reading them in the order that they were published in.

DarthV... it is horses for courses really... I read them in published order and still enjoyed them. But the story would still work by chronological order.

I much prefer novels like these in chronological order rather than the published order, IMHO. What is the chronological order?

Dammit!!! I just knew that was coming! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
