Just finished David Gemmell' Ravenheart. I liked it but i think it was not as good as the other book in the Rigante serie. What do you think

Also it seems that Ravenheart is just an introduction to Stormrider. Can anybody who read Stormrider confirm that.

It has been awhile since I have read the other books in this series. I remember being a bit disappointed with Connaver's relationship with his son Bane. However, I really enjoyed them. Ravenheart is definitely an introduction novel. I agree it seem to be setting up the main character for the next book who will be Stormrider. Again every time I read Gemmell I am reminded of the western writer Louis L'Amour.

I thought the first two books in Regante were better for sure, but I still have high hopes for Stormrider.

I've been planning on trying Gemmell, and since you all have obviously read him, what do you reccomend I start with? Any suggestions would be great.

If your from Canada you could have some problems. Legend is the only Gemmell book which i can't find in any Chapters. My father bought it a couple of years ago but he lend it to somebody and we never saw it again. If you can't find Legend maybe you could start with Lion of Macedon or one of his stand alone books.

Actually i really liked Ravenheart, i admit, SITS was still the bets but i think all the first three are strong books and in fact Stormrider is the worst of the four as it starts very strongly but then has a very weak ending, that said it is still a great book.

Not bad, but as others have mentioned it suffers from the fact that it is more or less a lead in to the next book, with an unsatisfactory conclusion to many aspects of the story and characters and plots introduced and left there. Hopefully when read with Stormrider it will work better.

Legend, but if, as Thom says you can't find that, then you might want to try one of the free-standing books, such as Morningstar or Knights Of Dark Renown.
