What are you favourite weapons?

Off the top of my head now my favourites are:
-Mat's (WoT) Bladed Spear/Staff. So deadly.
-The Triin (Marco) Jiiktar's that come apart and become separate short swords.
-And Druss'(Gemmell) long handled Butterfly bladed axe Snaga.

What about you people?

Dawn, Dragnipur, Stormbringer, Grayswandir, Excalibur and several other supremely impressive blades.

I also enjoy longbows, very much in fact. Love the Elven Archers. And there's something to be said for a warhammer as well http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not to mention one of the all time greats, the Morning star.

hmmm, have to say waylander's (gemmell) double crossbow, esentially one crossbow on top of another, each can be fired independantly. Seeing as i'm a fan of bows it has to be this one, imagine having that ace up your sleve.

Oh talking of weapons, what the hell is the name of that weapon which consists of two balls, attached in the middle by a chain or wire, it believe it is used as a throwing weapon, this has been driving me mad for days.

A bolo? Good for taking an opponent down by wrapping around his legs.

Oh, hold on, I am supposed to be asleep!

As a reader of Keith Laumer, the moment you said Bolo I found myself agreeing with you with an evil grin on my face.

Then I realized you just meant the ropes/wires with stones at the ends, as opposed to the sentient super-tanks. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

No, no, no. THAT Bolo takes down an opponent by rendering him down to scattered molecules...

As far as specific weapons go, any sentient weapon (preferably with an irritated, sarcastic sentience) is good.

As far a weapon type, I'm not sure what it's called, but I've always liked those staves with a slashing blade on each end. Name anyone? I'm getting vague memories of hearing one called a 'pilgrim staff' once...

Oh, and as for Sci-fi weapons; Bank's Lazy gun. If I had the book there's a great quote about what it does (it's impressively desructive)

Does a good spell qualify as a weapon?

They seem to be just as deadly yet they have better style to them.

Sting.
