Just saw the premiere of a new show on Fox....."Lie to Me," starring Tim Roth. The premise is that Roth is a specialist in the finest nuances of the discernment of whether or not a person is telling the truth.
Roth is, of course, a great actor, and the story line was interesting - actually, there were two situations under his investigation on this first show.
I found his character complex enough to warrant watching the next episode.

(Bump) I am hoping someone else has watched the first few episodes and would like to share an opinion. IMHO, this is one of the best new TV programs to come along in a while.;)

I have watched all three episodes so far and really like this new show. I like Roth in this even though all I have ever seen him in he has been an ass. Anyway I like this and the premise of it. And I am also learning a thing or two how to tell when someone is lying. Great thing when you have three teens:)

I'm really enjoying this show. Unfortunately it is on FOX and may get cancelled so I don't want to invest too much time into it.

OMG Please don't suggest it might be cancelled. I get the impression they're pushing it on a pretty high profile, and following "American Idol" doesn't hurt.
I hope it doesn't go the way of "Canterbury Law," which I really loved. I was very upset when I heard it was cancelled.
BTW, on the "Lie to Me" website, there is a very cool 5-part quiz to see how good you are at reading faces and detecting lies. Great fun! I scored 66%, which is average.

I've heard some pretty bad reviews so far... however, these positve ones have caught my interest. Will have a look at it.

I read a bad review and just didn't know where the writer was coming from. It's a great show! Give it a try. Of course, like any show, the first one had expository info, but I think you can jump in.

I love this show. And I hope it continues. Maybe if we watch it long enough we'll be able to spot liars easilly too. I wonder if it would be considered a curse or a gift to spot liars?

I've been wondering that as I watch the show, because at times it seems Dr. Lightman is not happy to see the truth in some people's faces. This is especially evident when it concerns his partner's philandering husband. I haven't been able to determine yet whether or not she also sees the truth behind her husband's lies but still chooses to live the lie with him.
I missed this past week's show.:( I'll have to try to see it online.

I've been thinking about it and I think lying to oneself is esential to survival if you can spot a liar a mile a away. I'm sure she knows on some level what the truth but ignores it. Everyone lies, it's a fact. But I think in episode 7 she is starting to get a little suspesious. So do you guys think she is going to figure it out or someone is going to tell her?
