In the interests of the international set, the february thread is now open (isolationist temptations notwithstanding).

Still reading Janny Wurts' Peril's Gate.

I di manage to finish James Barclay's Dawnthief. Decided to make it my car book while reading Wurts and sure enough got stuck in traffic and manage to force my way to the end. I doubt I shall be visiting Barclay anytime soon. Completionism does tug slightly but only a bit. I shall have to avoid him when browsing those used bookstores in London a few were so kind to mention elsewhere.

Thank you very much, JohnH. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Speaking all the way from across the dateline, this is estranghero reporting from February. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Presently, I'm dividing my time between John Marco's 'The Jackal of Nar' and Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever bk. 1. This is kinda funny since some posters have mentioned a definite link between Vantran and Covenant though I haven't come across that yet. Also, Marco's 1st book is suffering from '1st book syndrome'.

Standing in the wings are Michelle West's 'Broken Crown' and Iain M. Banks 'Against a dark Background.'

Actually, I also tried reading Tim Powers' 'Earthquake Weather' but voracious reader as I am, I couldn't get through it since I haven't read the first book (it's a sequel) and there were too many damn references. Oh well...

I should finish up Ship of Destiny by the end of next week. Then I think I'm going to read some fluff - the Legend of the Five Rings series. That should take up most of the month. Then after that it will be a tossup between Sara Douglass and John Marco.

Picked up Ring of Five Dragons from the library, so I'll give that a go. Also The 13th Juror by John Lescroart and Tell no one by Harlan Coben (I think) both of which were recommended by a friend. Rather a dry month for fantasy - nothing of interest (to me) being published until April! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

I'm finishing up "The Two Towers", after that I will read "The Gryphon" - Nick Bantock.
I suppose the next item on my list will be "All The Pretty Horses".

Just finished up Ship of Magic a couple of nights ago, so I'm itching to pick up Mad Ship. Unfortunately, between work, class, and learning about buying a house, the only book I have time to read is How To Buy a House in California, plus all the articles for research for my class... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

Just got ahold of heroes die (stover), the summer tree (kay), Tigana (also Kay), asassin's quest (hobb). The rest of my febuary pile so far is just plain ol' fiction. But nonetheless, I have a lot to read, and by the looks of it, all of it will be good. Looks to be a good month.
