Keyes Age of Unreason is hard to classify, but perhaps Alternate History may be closest. The premise is that Sir Isaac Newton discovered Alchemy instead of Gravity - (MAGIC rather than SCIENCE). Though the alchemy is studied as a science. Other historical figures are Ben Franklin and Louis XIV (I think, I always mix up the numbers, but it is the Sun King). I've only read the first book in this series but it is very good so far.
Keyes knows his history and does a nice job of playing with the whole magic/science thing.

BTW: TAD WILLIAMS confirmed the anthology, and what JohnH says on his ShadowMarch Bulletin board.

On second thought, John, isn't the Chosen the book with the gay protagonist, Cornalin or something like that?

Legends II?? *Homer drool* http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Terry Brooks - Shannara
Robin Hobb - how about a crossover between the Farseer and Liveship series?
Janny Wurts - Wars of Light and Shadow
Robert Jordan - WoT
Terry Goodkind - another Zedd story please!
Melanie Rawn - Dragon Prince/Star or Exiles...either one would be great!
R.A. Salvatore - DemonWars
Tad Williams - MS&T
Stephen Donaldson - Thomas Covenant
Deborah Chester - The Sword, The Ring, and The Chalice (if you haven't read this series, you're missing out!)
I left out Martin because I've only read the first book and wasn't really impressed with his Dunk & Egg story...

Im a little confused. You said this thing isn't coming bout until 2003 but I've got a copy beside me right now. When I read your post I went and got the book off its shelf to make sure its the same one and it is. Where'd you get that date at?

Ok here's what I have. Legends Volume 1, Stephen King, Robert Silverberg, Orson Scott Car, RAymond E. Feist.
Legends Volume 2 Terry Goodkind, George R.R. Martin, and Anne McCaffrey.
But these are also Tor books so is it something completely different?

Well the first volume of Legends was definitely at hit and miss affair for me. The Hedge Knight was head and shoulders above most, while some stories were quite inept. McAffery's and Jordan's stories were weak efforts in particular.

Ladyluna.
The original Legends anthology was in hardback form. It has been split up into three paperback editions. Legends I,II and III. You own one of them, most likely.
