Robert Jordan confirmed in an e-mail recently that he is not contributing to Legends 2.

Iesu Blizzaurel, do you have any idea how old that argument is? Do I go on with my life, or do I dignify your post with a response?
Here's a quick response (since that I can do before my wrists start spasming in pain from using this atrocious flat keyboard in the computer lab): Jordan has little comprehension of the rules of grammar.

..and Yes, I've got to try...a new Ash story (somehow!) by Mary Gentle.
Yes! This would guarentee that I would buy the collection (Well, I'll get it anyway). It's not impossible, when you take into account the large gaps in the Ash book; a bunch of short stories could tie together some of the fragments that were only mentioned in passing.
Still, seems unlikely; Gentle is certainly not known for the brevity of her tales, so a new short story of Ash seems unlikely.

I totaly agree, I enjoyed the series a lot and would like to see some thing else on it, maybe something around the area of pre sundering.

Vitriol - Just to let you know, Gentle does write short stories from time to time. I've had to wait for the website to be up and running, but if you haven't read this yet, try:

You're in for a treat!

Since this book is one a lot of people seem to be looking forward to getting their hands on, I figured I'd bump it back up with a
Scan of UK Cover for Legends II (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0007154348.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg).

Very nice cover... and I REALLY like some of the authors listed. And I'm very thankful that certain authors aren't contributing this time around. :p

Just an update on this much anticipated book. Terry Brook's website has the release date for the U.S. publication of this book as being in January 2004. I was unable to locate it anywhere on Amazon, but BarnesandNoble.com now has the U.S. pub date as being December 30, 2003, so I would assume we should see it right around the new year. Can't wait!
Here's the link, no cover shot or list of authors though.

Most looking forward to:
Martin, Hobb, Williams and Feist. It'll be my first taste of the Otherland world. I've never read anything by Card, so this'll be a first.
None of the others really interest me.

I was not even aware of this book before joining this site, and now I am looking forward to it. :)
I am not a big fan of short stories or anthologies normally, but I love the idea of short novels set in familiar story worlds. That said, I heard alot about who was in the book, but couldn't find anything definite. Even though the book is listed on B&N on-line, and on the Ballantine/Del Rey web site there is nothing about content. So I emailed the publishers: Ballantine/Del Rey. I got an answer today from Betsy Mitchell, Editor-in-Chief, Del Rey.
She lists the authors and their story worlds for Legends II as follows:
Terry Brooks (Shannara)
Diana Gabaldon (Outlander)
Neil Gaiman (American Gods)
George RR Martin (Song of ice and Fire)
Anne McCaffrey (Pern)
Tad Williams (Otherland)
Raymond Feist (Riftwar)
Elizabeth Haydon (Symphony of Ages)
Robin Hobb (Elderlings)
Orson Scott Card (Alvin Maker)
Robert Silverberg (Majipoor)
Please note that I never asked about a publishing date, so there was no info about that. I think it is listed for 12/03 in the US, nor did I ask if/why it was being published in the UK first.
