Seriously, you get this, you're good.

I took a Sci Fi Lit course around 1980 and one of the books was about a guy who takes his 12 string guitar out to a field and a flower talks to him. He then turns into some kind of messiah(?) and the authorities try to find him. Two other characters - male and female - do everything they can to protect him and the story is basically one big chase, a'la "Starman". As I remember it ends happily and they ask him why he became what he is and he mentions the flower talking to him.

- paperback from around 1980
- One or two word title containing "Fire" "Star" or "Storm" maybe.

Who knows, maybe it's obvious, but I've searched and drawn a complete blank. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
