Come on guys and dolls...does anyone has any peculiar reading habits? Let be honest!
I tend to read all my Fantasy books on the train when commuting to London in the weekdays. I also read them at nightime before bedtime (A perfect sleeping tablet!).
Here it comes...I am a big fan of Cadfael (just as zealous as Dennizm!) but I have a problem! Where do I get the time to read Cadfael when I am spending most of my reading time on pure fantasy books?
Well I came up with the solution of fitting more reading time in my daily lifetime by reading while I am in the bath! All my Cadfael books take their turn to be propped up between the taps as I lay in my hot soaking daily bubble bath and read all about Cadfael and his medieval adventures.
Am I mad or am I mad?
At least I wasn't reading Eddings in the bath! ;-)
Yes, what is wrong with a guy having a bath every day! At least I am not unclean like Thomas Covenant.
Unleper clean - Heavenwater! (Get it!?)

Hardly, most of my friends do what you do with reading on the train. Sometimes on the train to and from work I look around the train to see how many people are reading on the train. You know what? I would say that it is a majority of the people on the train have their noses in a book.
Among the women that I know taking a book into the bathroom when you take a bath is very normal. In fact, I know one woman who has her to read stack next to the tub in the master bathroom. Another rather eccentric lady has a bookshelf in her bathroom where she places all her to read books.
I hardly think that what you are describing is anything out of the ordinary.

I read on the train work to and from NYC. I always look around to see what other folks are reading and hope to see people reading fantasy.
My wife and have this cheesy little game where if I have a pile of books (which is usually the case) I let her pick which I will read next, out of a grouping of 4 or 5 books.
When I finish a book, I usually don't like to really start the next one until the next day. What I will do is just read the back cover/and jacket copy and skim through the first few pages

I'm more of a shower person, but when I have a bath I tend to read. I dropped my copy of Brin 'Otherness' a few months ago, though, so I need to be more careful.
I dried the book off as best I could, and it's not too bad; the pages are very stiff and hard to turn, but the ink hasn't run.

Oh, yes, I have MANY peculiar habits, some that will cause you to curl your toes, clap your hands over your ears and wince and grimace in disgust. There are even some that, if you are of a somewhat nervous disposition, will turn your hair white from shock. Let me explain in detail. Where shall I begin? First of all...oh, wait a minute, you meant READING habits? Oh, no, sorry, I've got none of those.

Water + books = disaster!
(crinkly pages, steam....oops!)
Not to mention that the glasses get rather steamed up!
I'll be impressed by the first person who admits to reading books in the shower.... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

After having too many books that end up having damp pages I had to give up reading in the bath. Now I listen to audiobooks instead. Much safer for the books!
Unfortunately there is very little fantasy that is in audiobook format. Though, this is actually a good thing since it forces me to expand my literary horizons. I usually listen to non-fiction and classics since those are the genres that put me to sleep if I try to read them.

Just about everything Terry Pratchett has written is available in abridged audio format, read very well by Tony Robinson (Bldrick from Blackadder). If you've read the books these are excellent. There are also a couple of unabridged ones on CD read by someone different; I haven't heard any of these, so I can't judge.
I also saw Eddings' Domes of Fire on tape, once.

I like reading while laying outside on my big old belly....
Snacks, as much enjoyment as I get from them then to be a distraction for me when reading.

Peculiar.... you betcha! Not sure if these are exactly habits though...
I refuse to read anything by J.K. Rowling...
(I know that Potter fans think she's the next best thing to Jesus/Allah/Vishnu, but a man has to draw the line somewhere)
I don't read dust covers... gives away too much...
I pick books by their covers without looking at reviews of the novels or (obviously) reading the dust cover...
Generally I read at home in bed... I get sick if I read in the car...
